Wind noise and rain leaks around the doors of the NA and NB are usually worn door seals and window belt weatherstrip. This page lists what Moss and a Mazda parts retailer describe, mostly for the NA and NB, and what one owner thread said. It is not a repair guide.

How to read it. Seller claims are as read on each seller's own page on 2 October 2026. Owner accounts are from Miata.net forum threads, dated below, and are individual opinions, not advice. There are no prices on this page, and nothing here was bought or tested.

Moss's search results also show Mazda door seals for the NB (905-243; the link redirected to a listing when I opened it), a hardtop door window seal, vent window seals for the NA and exterior door handles for the NA; I did not read those pages.

What an owner thread said

  • A 1999 NB with wind noise at the A pillar (January 2018). A new owner heard wind noise at the driver's A pillar, found a piece of exterior door trim missing and had rain come in halfway down the pillar. Painter's tape over the seam stopped the noise. The Mazda dealer said the parts were discontinued and gave part numbers NC10-59-760C and NC10-59-604A that differed from what he found online. One reply said a web search showed NC10-59-604A fits the NB back to 2000 and probably all NBs, since the doors were probably the same. Another new owner said his noise came from the seal at the top of the windshield. (Miata.net thread; first page, part numbers are posters' claims.)
  • RF wind noise (April 2017). Owners of the ND RF opened a thread to collect fixes for top-up wind noise. The first suggestion was a strip of the cloth (loop) side of sticky-back Velcro stuck to the vertical flat rubber seal where the rear edge of the window meets the top; he reasoned it would not interfere with the window or the top because the ends extend past the glass. The thread runs to five pages and I read the first. (Miata.net thread.)

Search results for other Miata.net threads say weatherstrip on the NB and NC gets pushed up when the window is wound, causing wind noise, that a little lubricant on the strip helps, and that doors can freeze to the seals in cold weather; I did not read those threads, so treat them as leads.

  • ND door seals proper, door handles and latches, and the A pillar and windshield seals (Moss lists a windshield and pillar seal by Mazda; I did not open it).
