Timing belt and water pump kits
The timing belt turns the cams and, on these engines, the water pump, so sellers sell the two together. This page lists the kits sold for the 1.6 and 1.8 litre NA and NB, what each says it contains, and what it leaves out. It is not a repair guide, and the interval for your car is in the Ref Sensor maintenance list.
How to read it. Every claim is the seller's, as read on its own page on 1 October 2026. This page carries no prices, which go stale; the seller's page has the current one, and whether it is in stock. Nothing here was bought or tested.

What to check before you order
- Which crank. RSpeed sells the 1990-91 and 1991-93 kits separately, naming short and long nose cranks. Check which your car has before ordering.
- Crank bolt and key. Of the three kits, only MiataSource lists a crank bolt and Woodruff key. The Ref Sensor known-issues list notes that on the earliest NA the key can wear its slot or the bolt loosen, and that removing the bolt for a seal job can start it. I found no seller that addresses that early-NA crank problem on its page.
- 1.6 against 1.8. RSpeed says its kit also fits the 1.6 litre cars sold outside the US (1990-2000). A search summary says the 1.6 and 1.8 water pumps differ; I did not see that on a seller page.
Named in search results, not opened
Mike's Miata Parts and Treasure Coast Miata sell Gates and Mazda kits for the 1994-2005 cars (Mike's, Treasure Coast). I did not open either.
Not covered yet
